Central Pattana has won the Outstanding Greenhouse Gas Management Leadership Award for two consecutive years, showcasing its commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Bangkok – Central Pattana plc, The operator of Central shopping centers, residential properties, office buildings, and hotels nationwide has reaffirmed its leadership in sustainable real estate under the vision "Imagining Better Futures For All." The company received the Climate Action Leading Organization (CALO) Award for 2024, achieving the Outstanding level. It earned a Gold rating in the categories of Measurement and Greenhouse Gas Reduction, and a Bronze rating in the Carbon Offset category. This recognition reflects the company's commitment to responsible business practices, alongside its dedication to social and environmental sustainability.
Ms. Naparat Sriwanvit, Chief Financial Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Finance, Accounting and Risk Management for Central Pattana plc, said: “Central Pattana is committed to conducting its business responsibly under ESG principles to enhance the quality of life for people, communities, and the environment in a sustainable way. The company strictly follows climate and environmental policies and is actively working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions using science-based targets (SBTs) to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The company’s greenhouse gas reduction efforts are divided into three main areas: reducing emissions during construction, reducing emissions during the operation of shopping centers, and carbon offsetting. These efforts follow international standards, such as energy-efficient and environmentally friendly building guidelines, including the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), TREES (Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability), and international standards for healthy buildings. As a result, several of Central Pattana’s real estate projects have consistently received certifications, including centralwOrld Offices, G Tower (Grand Rama 9), Central Chanthaburi, Central Westville, Central Nakhon Sawan, and Central Nakhon Pathom, among others.”
In the past year, Central Pattana successfully reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by over 189,414 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, representing a 21.6% reduction compared to the 2019 baseline, through various projects such as:
- The use of 26,011 megawatt-hours of solar energy from the installation of Solar Rooftops and Solar Carports with a total capacity of 29.4 megawatts, across 31 projects in 28 shopping centers (68% of all shopping centers), 1 hotel, and 2 office buildings.
- The upgrade of air conditioning systems by utilizing IoT and AI technology to optimize and control energy usage.
- The installation of EV Charging Stations to reduce fuel combustion, with a total of 570 charging ports across 40 shopping centers.
- The implementation of the Green Partnership project, joining forces with partners to combat global warming. The initiative provided education and sought cooperation from 46 pilot brands to reduce electricity consumption, successfully saving 318,169 kilowatt-hours. This year, the collaboration has expanded to over 163 brands and 2,252 stores.
- The installation of Recycle Stations as designated points for shoppers and stores to separate waste, transforming it into valuable materials before sending it for proper recycling and processing. This initiative resulted in over 31,425 tons of waste being recycled, an increase of 67% from the previous year, which helped reduce the proportion of waste sent to landfills by 38% of the total waste volume.
- Water conservation measures and the installation of water recycling systems in 18 projects have enabled the treatment and reuse of 617,371 cubic meters of water.
- The implementation of a project to plant 150,000 trees for carbon sequestration, as well as offsetting through I-RECs and carbon credits, among other initiatives.
Central Pattana remains committed to advancing projects in line with the Journey to Net Zero 2050, continuously making progress across various areas. This includes: Energy: Utilizing clean energy by installing Solar Rooftops and Solar Street Lights in 100% of shopping centers. Water: Reducing water usage, reusing water, and implementing water recycling systems. Waste: Transforming waste to minimize landfill waste. Air: Ensuring air quality meets standards and enhancing measures for PM 2.5.
