The forum underscored the role of Thai businesses in advancing investment in Malaysia while reaffirming the strong and longstanding partnership between Thailand and Malaysia across trade, investment, and tourism. It also highlighted opportunities to further strengthen public-private collaboration between the two countries.

The dialogue was joined by Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, who exchanged views on Thailand–Malaysia trade and investment with representatives of leading Thai companies operating in Malaysia. The event took place on 9 July 2026 at Park Hyatt Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Ms.Naparat Sriwanvit, Chief Finance Officer and President Hotel and Office Businesses of Central Pattana Plc., said: "Malaysia is one of the region's most strategic and high-potential markets, with long-standing and close economic ties with Thailand across trade, investment, and tourism. At Central Pattana, we believe that strong collaboration between the public and private sectors of both countries will be instrumental in strengthening investor confidence and creating new opportunities for businesses. We also encourage continued government support for Thai private sector investment in real estate projects in Malaysia, enabling Thai companies to expand internationally and enhance their competitiveness on the global stage."

Mr. Wuttikiat Techamongklapiwat, Chief Operating Officer, of Central Pattana Plc., said: "Central Pattana is one of the Thai companies with established experience investing and operating in Malaysia through Central i-City, the only Thai shopping centre in the country. Its strong performance reflects both the market's potential and our long-term confidence in Malaysia. We remain committed to expanding our business and investments in line with our long-term growth strategy. We have also proposed that the governments of both countries support a Business Matching initiative to connect Thai and Malaysian entrepreneurs, with Central shopping centres serving as retail platforms to facilitate cross-border business expansion under a practical cross-border collaboration model. Such collaboration would not only create new business opportunities but also help strengthen tourism, business ties, and cultural exchange between Thailand and Malaysia.

In addition, Central i-City continues to strengthen Thailand–Malaysia relations by supporting initiatives that promote economic cooperation, tourism, and cultural exchange. Most recently, it served as the venue for Amazing Thailand Fest 2026 (The Wholesome Taste of Thai), organized by Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Central Group and public and private sector partners. The event showcased Thailand's tourism offerings, authentic Thai cuisine, and cultural soft power to the Malaysian market, further reinforcing people-to-people connections between the two countries.

Central i-City, Central Pattana's first flagship international shopping centre located in Shah Alam, Selangor. With a project value of THB 8.5 billion, the development is home to more than 360 retail brands and business partners and has become one of Malaysia's leading lifestyle retail and entertainment destinations and a prominent landmark.
